The history of sex wax
The story goes that California native Zog asked a friend, Hank Pitcher, to design him a product label for his new surf wax. Taking the adage ‘sex sells’ to its extreme, Hank decided to throw subtlety out the window and call the new product Sex Wax. The joke led to a little confusion and the occasional offended customer but ultimately stuck (just like your feet with this wax). Nowadays, Zog’s surfboard sex wax stands for really good board wax, and just a little cheekiness too.
How sex wax works
Sex wax basically works to stabilise the surface of your board, making it easier to cling to your board as you turn into waves. While most surfers use traction pads on the back of their boards, in order to get a good grip on the front of the board, surf wax gives you that extra friction you need to feel secure and stable on your board, without things getting sticky or messy.
